Inspiration - Wilco poster

Another great Wilco poster from here. Wish I knew who the artists were on this one - Doublenaut perhaps? Love the layered, screen printed look - lots of hidden imagery - or is that just my imagination ;-)

It's never too late!

This work of art is Louise Fili Ltd's new subway poster for the School of Visual Arts. "The design is an homage to the urban mosaic artisans of the early 20th century, and after hours of painstaking Photoshop work, John and Dana agreed that it may have been easier to create it out of actual tiles."

Random art of fabulosity

I ran across this the other day and I think it's so fab. I love drama in art - I'm not really into wishy washy colours - I like big, bold and colourful. There's certainly some drama going on here in this piece. Don't you love it? It has a vintage feel - I think it's the fantastical nature of the sea serpent and I love the big black heavy clouds. This is buy Dan Bob Thompson and can be yours for $25.

Printemps

There's a new print available at Double Merrick that I quite fancy. I love the misregistered look - the crudely screen printed look. Often when I'm looking for ephemera it's this style of vintage printing that catches my eye - though this isn't vintage it's a modern giclée print. springtime swallow print from Double Merrick.

inspiration from the Boston Public Library

Sometimes I post vintage posters because I really hope that they will inspire someone to create something beautiful. There's so much to be learned from these wonderful old pieces. I could stare at them for hours - and, if you go to the Boston Public Library's collection, you can, in fact!

Inspiration - band posters

Up until now I felt there was little competition for band posters - The Decemberists won hands down. But I think that these posters for The Swell Season definitely give them a run for their money.

Inspiration | posters and covers
I ran across these great posters the other day and I wanted to share them with you. I was putting the post together when I noticed some vintage magazine covers nearby. They just seemed like interesting vintage companions to these modern gig posters. There are lots of poster websites online to purchase gig posters from - for example this one. There are also great resources to find vintage covers - like this one.
