Vintage Sewing Secrets

I thought this was very cute when I saw it at Sublime Stitchin. Great, vintage 1930's Sewing Secrets cover from Dominus Vobiscum's Flickr stream. I love that anyone would take the time to do a corded buttonhole! And note the instructions for a 'slide fastener' - not a zip!

This makes me all sorts of happy, I love to make my garments pretty close to perfect. It seems like these little details have been lost through time. Thanks for the refresher!

Love the poster! I'll have to send this post to my seamstress friend....I believe she did a bunch of corded buttonholes for a wedding dress recently....they looked fantastic... and a fantastic amount of work! :)
