Good morning!

Good morning! I know, you're not used to hearing from me first thing in the morning but I'm afraid I'm a little under the weather and spent yesterday tucked in bed trying to sleep off an impending cold. I feel a bit better this morning. I wanted to share something with you. I spent some of my day yesterday, with my laptop on the bed, zooming around the Scottish countryside. Now I know that most of you all ready use Google maps but up until recently their 'street view' feature was only available in major cities. Well not anymore! The picture below is a Google 'street view' of where I grew up in the tiny little town of Dollar, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. Up until recently there was only a very blurry, bird's eye view of Dollar available on Google maps but now - well I can practically walk up our front steps and peer into the windows of our front room! I had plenty of time on my hands yesterday so took a stroll around the old neighbourhood and then headed off to neigbouring villages - so fun! So if you haven't tried Google 'street view' in a while, thinking it was only for NY or london - you might want to try it again!

Oh, and our house is the 2nd house on the left with the dormer windows :-)

enchanting! a little disconcerting that you can practically walk up to the window and look in ... hmmm, i wonder how far off we are from actually being able to do that ??? hahaha
Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well ... take it easy and i wish you a speedy recovery :)

What a beautiful street Fiona! It looks like something out of a story book.

Lovely! Reminds me of our trip to Scotland. We loved all the quaint little towns with their old buildings and the gorgeous countrysides. Always felt like we were looking in a picture book.

Feel better!

how amazing is that... I am feeling slightly worried about how much time I could spend peering around the world... How cool to share your childhood home with us. Have a healthy day :)

Looks like a number of us are in the same shoes... I'm in bed today fighting off my cold. Hope the trip home made you feel a little better! What a charming town, just as I imagined it would be.

This is amazing, isn't it?! A little "Big Brother" sometimes, but still amazing.

Growing up in Scotland? And here I thought you couldn't get any more charming! :)

Hope you're feeling considerably better at this point!

This is so cool! If I could pick any country to live in, it would be Scotland. Eric and I have dreams of moving there one day, but I don't know if I could bear being so far from family. You grew up on such a beautiful street!

Thank for all your sweet comments today. I'm never sick - so I'm not a very good patient! Zooming around Scotland with Google street view kept me very entertained yesterday!
Your comments cheered me up today - thanks!
Fiona

What a charming home you grew up in! I'm in Ireland right now and this reminds me of some of the little villages around the countryside. Apparently Dublin is now on Google street view and someone actually came across a street where the camera car was mooned by two guys in one of the driveways! crazy!
