Right now it's Vampire Weekend's 'Bryn', because I've discovered my 10 1/2 month old will dance with me!

She does a crazy little stiff shoulder shimmy that makes me tear up it's so damn cute.

Shakira songs because I like to shake it. I would say I like to dance to Hips Don't Lie the best.

Around the holidays I like to dance to the Charlie Brown Christmas theme song.

I'm all about the pop queens when it comes to booty shaking songs!

A few of my faves:
Madonna - Get Together
Britney Spears - Toxic
Beyonce - Crazy in Love

Great question and giveaway, Fiona!

Linda said...

I have to agree with Claire, Hips Dont Lie is a favourite
second is Coco Jamboo by Mr. President
third is Just Dance by Lady Gaga

Mamase mamasa mamamakusa!
Yeah, classic.
I just discovered this song "sleepyhead" by passion pit b/c of the ipod pixi commercials and the song makes me dance and tear up at the same time.
And Abba! Give Me a Man After Midnight. As for Sakira- She-Wolf has it all over that hips song.
But a favorite? That's like picking a favorite child if you had thousands of children.

Crazy in Love by Beyonce for sure. Love that booty shaking! Have tweeted at http://twitter.com/AllieMac

No doubt: Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive". I feel totally sympathetic towards the guy in that movie, "In & Out", who couldn't help himself dancing to it (those of you who have seen the movie remember that scene, I'm sure!)

It is a song by the Pogues, Fiesta. It starts out really slow so I joke around with my two year old that it is a really slow song and then when the pace picks up we bolt and run around the house frantically. It is great fun, especially on a rainy day.

Good morning! Great tunes ladies - I had no idea there were so many Shakira fans amongst my readers! I'd like to see videos of all those Shakira wanna be's!

Hands down, I have to say "Love Shack" by the B52's.

It is also a favorite of a girlie friend of mine who lives in NH (I'm in FL) and whenever either of us hears it, we call each other. Recently I was at an art retreat in NH, planning to visit her for a couple days at the end. I was so cold on the last day, I called her in the morning to see if she minded my coming a night early. She picked up the phone and said: "I knew it was you! I just heard "Love Shack"!!"

I almost hate to admit it -- Sex Bomb by Tom Jones. It's the only Tom Jones song I know, but my sister has it on a CD and it always gets us dancing!

so, in all honesty, i don't dance. mainly because nobody wants to see this uncoordinated, white girl shake anything! i inherited my mother's clumsy, uncoordinated gene. ;)

with that said, i will dance to make my kids laugh. mainly during their cartoons. one of my favorite ones to entertain them with is the opening song to olivia. on more than one occasion they've been known to ask me to get out of the way so they can see the t.v. ;)

(for those of you without cartoon knowledge: http://www.nickjr.com/olivia/)

So hard to pick a favorite, but I can never help but dancing when I hear "I Will Survive" by Diana Ross. Irresistable! I'm logged into Google, so I think you can see my e-mail (hard to tell from here), but you can get to me via my blog at http://www.amyalamode.com if my e-mail isn't showing up for you. Thanks! I SOOO hope I win!

Among others, "Boogie Shoes" by KC and the Sunshine Band--as in Saturday Night Fever. This may date me, but I love disco music. Dancing along with Travolta to Beethoven's Fifth in SNF is also great fun.

"Jai Ho" since Slumdog Millionaire came out (my kindergartners even use the song as their "clean up" ditty)- but if you want to get me dancing AND cleaning up at home, any upbeat Journey song will do- Steve Perry singing, of course! Happy Holiday!
