A few days ago we lost Doug's dad. It was a fast and furious fight. 12 weeks ago he was fit as a fiddle. Today we'll say our goodbyes. We'll miss him. He was one of a kind - that's him on the left - a young cowboy on the Guichon(Quilchena) Ranch in BC's Nicola Valley. (That's his brother on the right.)

Great picture. I can see Doug in his Dad. He looks like a very cool guy. Our thoughts are with you as you say your good byes and learn to deal with the loss of a beloved parent.

So sorry for your loss. The fast fights are a bit of a double-edged sword. May you and Doug have the support you need at this time.

And what a treasure you have in that picture!

Thank you so much for all your heartfelt comments. I am truly touched. I wouldn't normally share a personal thing like this on a blog but I know that many of you have been with me on this blog for a very long time and, like good friends, we see each other here every day.

Short and sweet.. My sincerest condolences Fiona. You are such a positive upbeat and funny person, I thought your tweet this am was about weather.. My apologies.. I can certainly understand how fleeting life passes.. My own father fought a battle but lost in the same amount of time.. Doug's dad looks like he lived a grand life! He will certainly live on in your thoughts and hearts. Take care Fiona.. thinking of you.
