Inspiration
Let's look at some furniture today. I was talking to someone yesterday about how, in our 20s we spent so much time tracking down cast off furniture and stripping it and painting it and trying out faux finishes(you can tell this was a long time ago can't you?) Each piece of furniture we owned had a story to tell and we had a lot of fun gathering pieces at yard sales and thrift stores. Then it seems like in the last few years we all subscribed to a boring, homogenized decorating trend that ripped the soul out of everyone's home decor and encouraged us to minimalize and neutralize. BORING. Let's get thrifty back. I know you 20 year olds are all still doing this but the rest of us need to head back to the flea market and bring the boho home!

I'm scouting for furniture to refinish because I want to remodel my kitchen with a few dressers instead of cabinets. Here's to good hunting!

You're right. More and more people are looking for great home projects and restoring furniture is right up there. Who doesn't like to find a fixer-upper and then make it shine? Especially if said found piece was for a lark!

I agree! I have been looking for the perfect side table for my back porch (where we spend a great deal of time) and could have picked up more than one in normal stores, but I want a thrifted piece! Something that has some character and something I don't spend so much on so that I won't feel bad about slapping a coat of lime green paint on it.... I did find one that really was perfect, except the wood had a gorgeous age patina and I certainly didn't want to paint it or expose it to the elements as it would be on the porch... ::SIGH::
