Hmmmmmmmm,
We have to chat - no seriously. Ever since I added the LinkWithin feature after each post there has been a distinct lack of comments. Yes it's true I think you have all become very click-happy and are forgetting to come back here, after your cyber trip down memory lane, to leave me a comment. Now I love reading the comments - it's my favourite part of my morning - and it seems very dull when I don't hear from all the usual suspects by about 10am. If you don't like the LinkWithin thingy then I shall remove it - if that's what I have to do to get you all back here with your random thoughts and caffeine fueled wisdom. Thanks you, Fiona, cafe manager  ;-)

Hi Fiona, I don't think LinkWithin deters comments, but that's me. I kinda like it actually...

I like it because enthusiastic new readers (like me)can get quick and easy links back to older posts...and the photos give the reader an idea of what the post is about and entices them in.

Hmmm... well I never use the Linkwithin. And to be honest, I think that esthetically it takes away from the actual post. But that's me too :)

fiona, I agree with the post above (first I had to figure out what LinkWithin was). It may detract from the beautiful imagery - maybe it detracts from the "comment" button. Either way, it doesn't stop me. :-)

Though I am not a usual suspect, I love that you admit how much you appreciate comments! Love this photo of the typewriter--have one similar myself....

Good morning - great to see you all here!
Thanks for the comments!
I like the Linkwithin because Cafe Cartolina has grown in readership really fast in the last 6 months and there are a lot of cool posts/images from the first 6 months that many of you will have missed. By the end of the day I should know what the general consensus is about Linkwithin!
I really appreciate your comments and on my part I am going to take the time to respond to comments every day.
cheers,
Fiona

I agree. I like reading the comments too, even though I'm usually too busy WORKING in the Cartolina factory.....

I agree with you Fiona, for me inkWithin is a great way to keep old posts active. My blog is new enough that I want the posts I do now to be really accessible to readers going forward (let's hope I get more readers!) But I'll be watching your comments today to see what people say - your theory makes so much sense!
And I want more comments too!

I'm back from my week off and I just wanted to say that I like the Linkwithin. I like everything about your blog. Carry on.

I'm not a fan of linkwithin; it clutters up the blog. If there's a new blog that I discover, part of the joy is going back through all their old posts organically to discover what I've been missing.

I've been wondering the same thing about my blog...thanks for bringing this up! I don't get a ton of comments anyway, but people do seem to use the linkwithin feature alot. I do think, though, that it is pretty unattractive. I'll be watching to see what your brilliant readers have to say!
xo.

I love LinkWithin for the opportunity to discover old posts (though in your case I spent one whole afternoon about 3 months ago catching up on every post since the beginning!), and I think that because your posts are always full of such beautiful imagery the linked within images do not detract from the visual.

And I share your love of comments. Most bloggers do what we do to catalog some of our interests or some aspect of our lives, and for that alone the process is worthwhile. But it is so much more fun when others with similar interests and experiences chime in to offer their two cents. Yay, comments!

These are all very interesting comments - thanks! Nice to see you back Anna!
So far I think that Linkwithin is a positive feature(I have to say that I like it because I visit a lot of blogs, but not every day, so I have likely missed a few posts in the past.)
Thanks
Fiona

I have linkwithin on my blog too, but I never thought about it as a deterrent to comments...hmm.

I like it on yours because I always see something new. I would love to go back to the beginning and read all your posts, but time is limited, and I use that tool to read a few per day.

On my own blog, I see posts I forgot I wrote, and that's fun. But I have swiss cheese instead of memory, so that's just me.

Love your blog so much.
Also, as a blogger, love comments.

Have you seen Julie and Julia? You must go if not. Great scene when Julie gets her first blog comment.
I think we all can relate.
xxoo

Hi, I'm a newer reader and I don't comment very often, but I think you hit the nail on the head when you described what you think happens. I start clicking and reading older posts, then I follow the links and eventually get sidetracked and forget to come back. I'll try to remedy that!

You know, I wish people would comment more on my blog, and I have no idea why they don't. I know they are there, but so few comment. Is it because I don't have time to comment on their's? Or maybe my conversation doesn't create conversation back? I too have the linkd within and like the feature personally - maybe it does deter commenters here, not sure...

that was no help - was it?

Great to read the input re this feature.I was thinking of adding it to my blog but I'm going to wait to see what you decide (the easy way out).Missed your usual post for today....it felt ,well, out of sorts.
See you tomorrow!
ps Doug, if Fiona lets you out for air, my other half will meet you in N Dakota, which he explained the significance of.......

Dearest Fiona, I think the LinkWithins are fine. You´re so sweet.
I mentioned your blog in mine today. If you have time, have a quick peek as there´s something divine and from japan...

That is a very good point! I have it on my blog, but I don't get many comments to begin with so I'm not sure how that feature affects it.
I personally like it - helps me get caught up on things for new blogs I'm exploring, or reminders of things I've read & liked before.
To be perfectly honest, the only thing that usually stops me from commenting on other people's blogs is if I repeatedly leave comments and never hear back from them at all (either via reply, or comment on my blog).
