New obsession
I'm hoping you'll allow me to indulge in my new obsession with old floor tiles. When I'm winding up for a design session I find inspiration in the most unlikely places - though I think you'd have to be blind to not find these inspiring. The decay, the dust, the faded colours and the wonderful ancient repeating patterns. I could look at these for hours - and have!

All of these images were taken in Lisbon and are from here. Thanks.

Love your blog and love these tiles. My sister and I took a trip around Vietnam a few years ago and developed a similar obsession with the floors we were walking on. If you need me more inspiration, let me know -- happy to send you some pix.

Glad you like the tiles too Paula! I especially love the way the black, white and grey ones have that eye bending 3 dimensionality happening. I'm alway happy to accept submissions Paula so if you have any pix you think would look great here send them along!

I lived in a victorian house in cardiff and it, and the neighbouring houses, had the most beautiful tiles. i had loads of pix... on my computer that was stolen. :-(

When we went to the Sistine Chapel, everyone else was looking at the ceiling but I was looking at the floor tiles.

Oh I completely understand your obsession, I love those tile floors too, I love those ancient geometric images and needless to say, Lisbon is such and amazing place, that you can find these rather frequently. I love your blog, your images inspire me, you have a wonderful taste!

Those are so beautiful. I love geometric patterns, especially as floor tiles.

These are gorgeous! I love the old old tile designs, they're so sophisticated. And the texture on these ones is great.

Hi! I'm Marcela from Argentina. I have a little shop in the town of San Isidro, Buenos Aires, where I sell tiles with a friend. We both love old tiles and design new, modern tiles too. I invite you to see our web page and blog. www.quadrat.com.ar and www.quadratmosaicos.blogspot.com.
If you allow me, I would love to put your pictures in our blog. They are beautiful! Bye. Marcela
