Step right up!

Aren't these stairs fantastic? I love this idea - especially in a casual, cottage-like house.

Yellow stairs from here and grey stairs from here.

Inspiration - wax cloth pillows

How can you not be inspired by the gorgeous patterns on these wax cloth pillows from Henry Road. These fabrics originate in Africa but this first pillow looks almost like it could be bark cloth from the 50s doesn't it? These patterns are hot hot hot at the moment - adding yet one more decorative layer to your modern, boho look. Lots to choose from and a great price - Henry Road.

(We are a little short on blog posts this week because we are working like little beavers to get the new Cartolina app ready for the end of this week - so, stand by - new Cartograms coming Friday if all goes as scheduled!)

Sister Batik

Patterns like these are wonderful - so unique, impulsive and random. The process of wax batik is fascinating and ancient. I love these pillows from Sister Batik - there's a traditional and contemporary feel with so much energy and inspiration. I hope you love them - I spotted these on this treasury from Design Seeds.

Same, but not the same.

I know why I like these - 6 little votives with coordinating, but not matching, red patterns. I'm a sucker for a set of tiny patterns that are similar but not the same. Same, but not the same. Know what I mean ;-)

Oh, and they have these ones too . . . .

Inspiration - old tin.

These vintage tins are from a small collection at The Laundry I can never resist a scruffy old tea caddy or biscuit tin :-)

Vintage inspiration

Seeing as you all have such good taste - I thought you would appreciate this fab remnant of Victorian wallpaper. I'm quite sure it's the kind that contains lots of arsenic - so if you purchase this lovely piece of history - don't lick it ;-)

Very old box from Kelley Street Vintage

Vintage ephemera

There is so much to admire and be inspired by at this Etsy shop. Vintage wallpaper heaven! It's easy to look through all the 1940's designs and see where some of the current surface designers(especially the British ones) get their inspiration - though there's nothing like the real thing. Enjoy!

All of these lovely papers are available at Hannah's Treasures

I saw this little sofa at Anthropologie in Carmel a few weeks ago and perched on it while Doug finished shooting pictures for me - of course I forgot to get a picture of it because I was sitting on it! So here it is from their site. It's very sweet and really quite small. The fantastical floral pattern is what makes it so special! A real show stopper.

Sabine Reinhart

You know me - I'm not mad about modern patterns but these are quite stunning. I love the colour palette and the texture created by the contour lines. Very impressive and really beautiful. These are designed by Sabine Reinhart and I discovered her work through Print and Pattern.
