I'm really not a girly girl - I like classic clothes, jeans and Ts and recognizable materials and styles. I don't like trendy and I don't like fussy. I like natural textures and leather patina. I like history, provenance and vintage - and I really like these bags - made from historical textiles and hardware by Forest Bound.
I'm a big fan of Fossil bags in all shapes and sizes. I think practically all my bags are Fossil - they suit my casual style! I really love the quality of their leather and the construction. I just bought a great persimmon coloured satchel at Xmas from The Bay in Vancouver - which I love - but that doesn't stop me from checking out what's new for Spring!
How fun are these - tongue in cheek purse designs from English designers French & English Confectioners. I love shiny leather and French & English almost work entirely in patent leather. Cream patent leather is so soft and yummy. The stitched detail is so whimsical. Great stuff!
Gotta love these bags from Scabby Robot. I have a bag just like this in a bright green leather that I haul around everywhere with me - people say to me - Still got that bag? - Yes I do! Ha! And you should have one too. The simple shape and honest construction is so appealing and practical - fab!
While we are on the subject of bags we should check out these satchels from Cambridge Satchel - thank you Gillian for the link. These are just like the satchels we had for school in Scotland though ours had 2 straps like a back pack on them - did you have one of these?
Fiona Richards | Cartolina Cards . . . . I have never considered myself a trend follower. The only things I follow are my instincts. Collecting and creating have taught me to trust the art that moves me and question the fads that don't. This blog reflects the diverse design influences behind my work and all the things I love.
