These pieces totally satisfy my craving for vintage, texture, patina and provenance. I'm still hooked on these clusters of tiny found objects hanging in a bundle on a chain. These are really wonderful and are from artist Katinka Pinka in Texas.

Shell button history
Did you read the Etsy Storque article about the shell button industry in Iowa at the turn of the century? It's so interesting. I had no idea that so many of the those buttons came from Muscatine on the banks of the Mississippi. People actually worked in the dirt along the edge of the river harvesting the shells which were then taken to the factory to be cut and carved. You must go and read the article - really fascinating. There's even more information here.

Inspiration
I like these. A simple, stamped, kraft sticker. The simplest ideas are often the best - I can't personally do simple but I admire artists who can! These stylish and useful paper products are available at Happy Huismus.

I was browsing through the Pulse catalog this weekend. Pulse is a very large trade show held in Earl's Court in London every year. We are exhibiting our Cartolina products there this year for the first time. I'm excited about it because our UK distributors are using some of our new french lady designs as their booth graphics this year - can't wait to see some pictures. Anyway the catalog has some great fresh new designers that I wanted to show you this morning starting with SCP who have, among other things, these large knitted ottomans(below) produced in Scotland from lovely soft lambs wool - so comfy!

Going going gone!
Fancy this embroidered vintage pillow? It could be yours - Ebay. (This seller actually has some pretty cool stuff!)
Blog Alert
Julie Reed has some great antique fair coverage, as usual, over at her lovely blog, Bricolage. Julie takes great pictures and we definitely love very similar pieces. Go check out her posts, I think you will like.

Happy Weekend!
Have a great weekend - the sun has finally come out in BC and if we're lucky it might stick around for a few days. Maybe I'll do some gardening and relax for change - no work for me this weekend. And if you are in London and going to PULSE at Earl's Court this weekend don't forget to check out all our new Cartolina product at Booth E28(and say hi to Gavin and Ian!) See you Monday!

This incredible paper necklace is made by Blush Envy - who's work I am in total awe of this week!
